Claude skills marketplace guide
A Claude skills marketplace is a site where you find SKILL.md skills for Claude and Claude Code, and SkillTrove is an independent directory of 1,481 of them. Each listing shows the author, the repo, the license and the install steps.
Is this Anthropic's official store?
No, Anthropic does not run SkillTrove. We list skills from public GitHub repos and link back to each one, but we never host or copy the files, so every install pulls from the author's own repo.
What is the difference between a skill directory and a plugin marketplace?
A directory lists single skills, and each skill is one folder with a SKILL.md file inside. A plugin is a bigger bundle that can carry skills along with its own hooks and MCP servers. Our Claude Code plugins page shows how to add one.
How do I check a skill before I install it?
Read every file in the skill first, scripts included. Anthropic's docs warn that a skill can give itself wide tool access, so look for that before you run it.
Each listing also shows the result of our automated check, and of the 1,481 skills, 1,346 pass, 15 have notes and 120 have not been checked yet. The check looks for risky patterns. It is not a security audit.
Which licenses let me reuse a skill?
Check the license first. Of 1,481 skills, 545 use MIT and 45 use Apache-2.0, while 856 had no license we could find. When a repo has no license, we show its name and a link but never quote its text.
Where do the skills come from?
They come from 24 public GitHub repos. ComposioHQ gives us the most with 864 skills, followed by alirezarezvani with 388 and coreyhaines31 with 50, and Anthropic's own repo adds 20 more.
Which AI coding tools can use the same skills?
Claude Code skills follow the open Agent Skills format, which means a lot of tools can read the same folder. Only the path changes. Our guide on which agents support skills lists the path for each tool.
We do not test every skill in every tool. Only 54 listings say where they work, and each of those names Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and OpenClaw.
Where can I see every skill, not only the Claude ones?
Use search to look across all 1,481 skills. You can also browse by topic, since each skill sits in one or more of 13 categories.
